Online Learning Update

Assalamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahe wa Barakatahu, 

In’sha’Allah this post finds you and your dear ones safe and healthy and managing the stress of the current situation. 

As you may have heard, Governor Murphy signed Executive Order No. 107 this past Saturday, March 21.  All schools in New Jersey will now be closed until further notice.  Our online Maarif classes and remote learning will continue until Friday. April 3. Our spring break will run from April 6th through the 10th as previously scheduled.  There will be no remote learning or assignments during that week.  Maarif online will resume on Monday, April 13, 2020, In’sha’Allah.  

We understand how disruptive this is to everyone’s lives, yet we recognize the need to stick with our calendar and give everyone a chance to relax and re-group during this unprecedented situation. 
As has been recommended by New Jersey Department of Health, the CDC and reiterated by Governor Murphy, all NJ residents are directed to stay at home. We urge all our Maarif community to restrict in-person social interactions and to find alternate ways to stay in touch with friends and family.  Experts in medicine and epidemiology deem isolation to be the best way to slow the progression of Covid-19, save lives and prevent overwhelming the medical infrastructure. 

We understand that all of this is hard to take in. As we proceed, we will all need to be patient and flexible. We ask all of you to recognize that our teachers and staff are working hard to continue to educate our students. 

In the past week (our first week of the closure, although it feels like a month), we have conducted live classes, created schedules for classes and assignments, answered questions from students and their families, learned new online platforms such as “Discord”, “WebEx” and “Zoom”, shared unlimited educational resources with each other, supported our school community, and dropped in on virtual classes throughout the day. All this took place while taking care of our own families at home.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns that cannot be answered by your children’s teachers, please email us at njmaarifschool@ gmail.com. As always, you can contact your children’s teachers with any class specific questions or comments through QuickSchools or Class Dojo.

Thank you for your patience and support. In’sha’Allah together we will make it through this challenging time and emerge on the other side stronger and better. 

Please remember to maintain social distancing even if you feel well. The life you save may be your own or that of a loved one In’sha’Allah.

Eid Mubarak to all our Maarif Family!

Dear Maarif Families,  We at Maarif School hope that you and your families had a wonderful Eid celebration. Although it was not how most of us have celebrated before, and we missed seeing friends and family in the masajid, in'sha'Allah you were able to find the sweetness and light in the day.  Our Sr. Zeyap put together a wonderful video of   greetings  which  you can see here. I am reminded that our love for each other and our love of Allah SWA is what keeps us strong as a community. Preparing for Ramadan 2020

Assalamu alaikum to all our dear Maarif community, In’sha’Allah this post finds you well and safe. We are now in the middle of the 5 th week of our Covid19 closure. It’s been challenging for all of us, with our school closed and all of our religious and cultural touchstones unavailable to us. We can’t attend Jumu’ah prayers. We can’t have dinner with friends and extended family. We must wear masks if we go out to the grocery store, and may find empty shelves when we get there. Our children can’t play in the parks. We are separated from loved ones even when they are sick and need us most. Covid19 has touched many of us personally with the loss or illness of family members and loved ones. A lot of us are struggling financially with the loss or downturn of our business or jobs. Truly these are scary and trying times for all of us.
