Maarif School Goes Remote

Maarif School via Remote and Virtual Instruction

Assalamu alaikum Dear Respected Parents,
We pray that you and your dear ones are in the best of health and iman. As you are aware, due to the developing situation with Covid19, Maarif School is closed beginning Monday, 3/16/20. We have made provisions during the time we are closed, to teach remotely and to make all textbooks and resources available to our students online.
Students will be learning remotely using the remote instruction created by our teachers. NJDOE approved online learning for all NJ students as of 3/5/20 due to the Covid 19 crisis. Therefore, we are planning to implement lessons and instruction via remote access for the foreseeable future.
All students and their families are required to take responsibility for students' learning at home. This means that parents of all students should ensure that students are doing the assigned work, and handing in assignments by the deadlines. For younger students in grades Pre-K-3, parents should sit with children and make sure they understand the concepts and if not, either explain them, or contact the teacher for more instruction.

Parents of students in Pre-K-3rd grade will be using ClassDojo to contact teachers. Teachers may assign work on IXL.com, thinkcentral.com, or other platforms. Students already have their log-ins and necessary information to use these.

Students in 4th-12th grades will be using GoogleClassroom to access lessons, rubrics, assignments and class discussion. Teachers will be assigning work from online textbooks, IXL.com and other resources.

At Maarif we genuinely care for our students, getting to know them personally, working with each individually to develop their potential, and creating strong bonds with students and families. It's important to remember that while there are many unknowns and the crisis is evolving daily, we at Maarif are committed to working with our students and their families to continue to help them learn and grow and meet academic benchmarks.

That said, we must all be patient and calm in adapting to not only online learning but also the demands of the situation in the wider community, over which we have no control. It will be challenging to teach children at home, but keep in mind that we are all managing the needs of our own households as well, including spouses, children, elders, and others who are dependent upon us in our personal lives and who will all be home as well.

It is our hope that Maarif families will keep this in mind by being supportive, compassionate, flexible and patient as we all move into the implementation phase of virtual learning this week and in the days and weeks to come.

As with any family in times of crisis, we rely on and support each other. In'sha'Allah Allah SWA will guide and protect us and our loved ones.

For any academic concerns, please contact your child's teacher through ClassDojo or Quickschools. If your children have academic concerns, they can contact their teachers through Google Classroom.

If you have an administrative question, please email us at njmaarifschool@gmail.com .

Sincerely,

Sr. Ozlem Ozsirin & Sr. Pam D'Amato
